Simeon's Journey Starts In:
Cycle For Type 1 Tour:
Meet Simeon King
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) at 11 years old, and like many others with this condition, I faced the daily challenges of carb counting, insulin management, blood sugar fluctuations, and constant injections. One of the hardest parts, however, was the isolation—feeling like no one truly understood what it was like to live with T1D.
That changed when, after seven years of feeling alone, I attended an I Challenge Diabetes event. Though it lasted only two nights, it transformed my life. For the first time, I connected with others who lived with T1D, people who understood the struggles I faced every day.
On June 1st, 2025, I’ll embark on a cross-Canada cycling journey — from Victoria, BC, to St. John’s, NL — to support I Challenge Diabetes. Every dollar raised will go directly toward covering participation costs so that no one is left behind due to financial barriers.
Simeon's Goals For This Journey
-
Raise $100,000 for I Challenge Diabetes
To ensure that anyone with T1D can access these life-changing programs, regardless of financial limitations.
-
Spread Awareness for T1D & I Challenge Diabetes
Many people, like me, go years without knowing support exists. By sharing my journey, I hope to connect others with the resources they need.
-
Build Community Across Canada
At every stop, I’ll bring people together to create local support networks—so no one has to feel alone in their journey with chronic illnesses.
